I didn't want to have to do this, but since I've been getting some very weird and very, VERY creepy people friending me, I'm F-Locking my LJ.

I love having people read my journal and comment - but when someone adds me at random with no real reason whatsover and I've never seen a comment from them AND their journal is weird as all fuck? NO.

So, if you're here for something and would like to folow my LJ, just comment here and I'll friend you. Oh and also, by commenting here you consent that you are over 18 and of legal age to read/watch what is on my journal.

Thanks, Aurora

Alright guys - I know that you've all heard me go on and on about Dreamwidth vs. Livejournal and how much better I deem Dreamwidth to be. I've had my reasons from the beginning (when I really started to get into DW) mainly: accessibility, user input, customer service, coding standards, etc. But now? Now it's gone beyond that. I don't know how many of you have been made aware of the latest fuckery going on in the recent LJ News post, but all I can say is that LJ's issues are getting way, way, way out of hand. Following is a collection of links that I've gathered in the last hour or so of surfing, reading comments, clicking on more links, etc. Read through them and take from them what you will.

First: Yes, LJ will be implementing the changes in regards to Facebook/Twitter. But according to staffer [livejournal.com profile] marta, it won't be for at least another 2 weeks.

A really great reply by [livejournal.com profile] silver_ariel to LJ's News post.

LJ staffer trolls the news post
The staffer in question is [livejournal.com profile] brenden, the mod from the ONTD community. He was going through posting as [livejournal.com profile] getyourownbitch.

Here all the comments have been re-posted by [personal profile] jessicaarnold, the person having the "conversation" with [livejournal.com profile] brenden.

Someone managed to get a screenshot of the majority of the conversation.

Stemming from that, it turns out that
LJ staff are going around deleting comments in both the current news post and the previous ones.

To show the difference between staff deleted comments and user deleted comments, someone did a test.

Then, amidst everything - something else came to light. It turns out that back in May, an LJ staffer left a comment on a LOCKED FRIENDS ONLY post. The staffer is [personal profile] dnewhall. He tried to claim the post was public at the time, which it wasn't. When it was looked at further by LJ staff, they changed the privacy of the post to PUBLIC, changed the tag setting and THEN claimed that the post had been public all along. I got this information from [personal profile] arkady here - she's got links to it all. Here is a post by [personal profile] charmian with more information.

All I can say is - DISTURBING beyond anything. It just goes to prove how unsafe our private/locked entries are. LJ staff does not respect its users at all.

Again with [personal profile] brenden trolling the news post. But not only that, he's also been known to harass and bully LJ users. All because they expressed their dislike of ONTD.

For those curious, some good information about how LJ/FB interact. Someone even posted under their FB account.

[livejournal.com profile] no_prey_remains posted some information about Canadian Social Networking Law.

[livejournal.com profile] jhumor posted info about US Social Networking Laws.

A collection of links in regards to LJ staffer [livejournal.com profile] markf's (head of LJ Abuse Prevention) comments on importing entries and comments to DW.

More pingback testing. From back when it was re-instituted and again, a week later.

And LJ has also instituted a new "nifty" little feature: A "share this" button at the bottom of posts. I haven't noticed this at all, but from what I've read it allows other users to cross post your entries.

Very well written and thought out breakup letter to LJ by [personal profile] dydan
Link removed - The reason I did this here, a post by [personal profile] shanaqui

A good comment explaining communities moving over to DW.

And if you want to find your LJ friends on DW (and they are using the same username) use this widget - thanks to [personal profile] dragonfly, here.

Again - if you're interested, I have plenty of Dreamwidth invite codes. Also, until the end of the month, you may also use the code VOX to sign-up for an account on Dreamwidth.

This entry is public both at DW & LJ - feel free to share the info.

The whole thing gets worse and worse. Just. Ugh.

Some expiremtns & LJ shows your FULL RL name
Pingback testing
Update to above: More Pingback issues

IDEK what to say anymore. *headdesks repeatedly*

Okay guys - want to know how bad the whole pingback thing is? I've disabled pingbacks for [livejournal.com profile] camelotsolstice and yet, I'm still getting them. Again - I am very tempted to move the entire fest over to DW for sure. Ugh.

Okay, the fest is pretty much a GO at this point. WOOZZAAAHHH! \o/ I've also gathered some forces and the mod team has now grown to four people. YAY - This'll make it loads easier on me.

I also made a post at the CS Comm to reach out to a larger group, make it more "official" and also post a much better poll. I was kinda bleh when I did the first one, so I wasn't wording things all that well.

[Mod Post] Camelot Solstice 2010 (Some administrative things & a poll)

Go on and vote, say your piece and pimp the post out like MAD.

And since I didn't sleep last night and I only slept like 2 hours the night before...

So, I can't sleep - even though I'm tired. But whatever. Questions for y'all.

I can't do polls here on DW, so I'll be making my post over at LJ public and make it there. EITHER WAY, you can still comment here if you want - since I won't be opening comments up over at LJ. I know, I know. Way to complicate it - but I'm a lazy ass and want to keep all the comments in one place.

[Poll #1602319]

PS: I'd either be running this alone or I'll have to find someone (or even someones) to help, since my lovely co-mod [personal profile] faynia will be too busy to help. She's getting all edumakated and such!

And I'm thinking of doing it at DW (and having the community imported over here) because that way, the stories that are really long can all be posted in ONE post \o/. So, let me know.

Jared Padalecki's Converse

I kind of want them - but I kind of don't. Has he worn them? Because - dude. If he has, given how much he sweats - those are some damn stinky shoes.

Also also also - Size 13 - Huh.

*cough* bed time now...

Oh and the newsletter will be up tomorrow, instead of today. I know - I suck. But, halfway through coding I fell asleep. /o\

I've claimed my fic - I quite literally ran over from work this morning and plopped myself down to read FAST. Sooooo many good stories and I had such a hard time narrowing it down to only one. /o\

But I can't wait to get it and get in touch with my author \o/ YAY

And congrats to all the authors - Y'all are AWESOME ♥

Things are going good - still. My brother is back and he's a bit calmer. Still have to help him and stuff - but, it's good.

Work is great - unless my students don't show up. Dude, it's raining. A lot, I know. If I have to show up - you better show up too. *glares at them*

Cute Boy is well - cute - seriously. Last night he declared "I am not a gentleman, at all" - to which I replied with "Gentlemen are overrated" - It took him almost ten minutes to realize that I was agreeing with him about how gentlemen aren't always gentlemen. His moment of "OH, wait, you're agreeing with me!" was too funny. Also, on his facebook info page he has this: religious views: waffles. I might die from how friggin' adorable he is. Oh and he plays the guitar and likes to cook. *flails*

I'm actually running late - had a swim today. Later than I'd planned because they had to do maintenance, but it was nice. Have to finish getting dressed again so I can go catch the bus. Woooo...

Also, before I forget: { consultation & schedule changes } for [livejournal.com profile] paperlegends

This story was brought to my attention by [livejournal.com profile] aldehyde and it's got me all up in arms now. Fandom: This is the kind of stuff that should be thought about carefully before you post a story/artwork/whatever.

First off, I have a screen print of the entire story - JUST IN CASE. You never know, right?

Second: I would have read this even if [livejournal.com profile] aldehyde hadn't mentioned anything in regards to it because I've read this author's stuff before. Or more like...skimmed it. (Let's not get off subject and talk about the horrible grammar and atrocious tense changes that occur every other verb.)

I had a forewarning about what the story contained, but nothing - nothing - could have ever prepared me for the callus and casual treatment this author gave the issue of suicide.

I'll go ahead and warn you: The following text is considered to be a trigger, please read with caution. Also, I'm placing the text under a cut.

Click here for excerpt from story )

I cannot begin to say how offended I was - AND STILL AM - by that paragraph. I couldn't help myself and commented on the story. (Comment screen printed as well - Good thing too, as she deleted it)

I generally enjoy most of your stuff - but this? Leaving aside the whole problem with stalking (which, hello - it does not work out that way), how in the world can you demean something as serious as suicide?

Not only that but you didn't warn at all for the fact that there would be thoughts of suicide, nor for the fact that they were right at the beginning of your story. This story was a trigger for me and the result is that I'm very upset - most especially over your casual attitude over it.

Let me tell you - IT DOES NOT HAPPEN LIKE THAT!

Up your rating to at least R and WARN for the fact that there is serious stalking and talk/thinking of suicide.

Not only does the author delete the comment, but she replies to me with this: (Screen print)

I'm truly sorry you've had difficulty with depression and suicidality.

I understand those issues, deeply.

I never said he stopped being suicidal.

that said. Please refrain from yelling at me in my own journal. It's jarring and rude.

If you're having really negative thoughts. check with your doctor or therapist asap.

~Vamphile

Excuse me? Did I miss the memo where you know about me and my life? You obviously don't understand the meaning of the word "trigger" and don't understand how fucking serious of an issue it is. And you obviously do not unde4rstand "those issues" deeply enough, considering how blase you make the whole situation seem. Please refrain from yelling at me in my own journal. It's jarring and rude. - Can we discuss how jarring it was for me to read your story? TO READ THE FIRST PARAGRAPH? You open up your story to comments and I can say what I fucking please.

Deleting the comment and sending me this via PM was not what I was expecting. I expected you to be mature and admit that oh, okay - maybe I screwed up. Maybe I should had a warning to the story. Has she? No.

Fuck you bitch - you have seriously pissed off the wrong person.
